Porsche 918 Spyder confirmed for production

Porsche has announced that the 918 Spyder, presented as a concept at the last Geneva Motor Show, will be produced in a limited series. The mid-engined hybrid sportscar will be manufactured in Germany, while technical specs and prices will be disclosed in the coming months.


Porsche 918 SpyderThe Porsche 918 Spyder was first presented as a concept car at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. The Sportscar features a hybrid powertrain with a 500 hp high-speed V8 and electric motors on the front and rear axle.

The 918 Spyder combines extreme performances (top speed of 320 km/h and 0-100 km/h in 3.2 seconds) with CO2 emissions of just 70 g/km and a fuel consumption of 94.1 mpg (3.0 litres/100 km) on the NEDC.

The production 918 Spyder will be developed in Weissach and assembled in a limited series at the at the Zuffenhausen plant, Stuttgart.

Further details will be disclosed closer to launch date.
